Some news from our rainy Belgium!
Hi everyone,
I'm coming back after a few weeks back home... where things are doing good. We are now settled (well, almost done), and we can now start to enjoy the end of summer in Belgium.
It has been warm for the last weeks but it is rainy and colder since a few days now.
Didier enjoys his new job in Brussels- he feels people to work with are motivated and it's easier to reach your goals when people are eager to work and collaborate in the same direction than you.
The kids enjoy their friends and had already a few sleepovers. Today, Manon's best friend is home with her brother to sleep over, so Manon and Hugo are very excited.
What about us back to Belgium?
Manon starts to practise a little bit of Dutch because she choosed to start a Dutch immersion program in secondary school that she will start begin of September.
Tomorrow, she will visit her friend from the Netherlands, Sophie, who lived in DC as well on this year (and is been back at the same time than us). She wil spend a few days out there.
She misses a lot her friends she met in DC like Zoe, Maya, Alba, Lauren, Cora, and other ones. But there's a longer distance now...
Hugo is happy to be back home- well, he's happy to be back to his home, his playroom, all his toys, and most of all his former habits! He remembers places we haven't been for a year, and looks excited to go back to these places or to recognize them. I think he is the most enthousiastic to be back.
About me, I was busy up to Wednesday night to reorganize the house, and got some visit from a few friends of mine.
Since last Thursday, we had had our first activities outside- well, I was waiting for my new license plates so I couldn't drive- so now, we start to enjoy again places we used to go- there is a former abbey in my village where the kids and I used to eat a sandwich every Wednesday, and we went on this week.
On Friday, we went for shopping in a big mall- I had to buy a few things.
On Saturday I sold old stuffs or things we have in double at a secondhand market in my village- I love to do that.
Then we went at the North Sea to figure out a few issues with a house we have out there.
On Sunday, we just relaxed home (well, Didier was settling his stuffs because he just has the week-ends since we arrived), but the kids and I spent our day in the craftroom coloring, doing play-do, creating jewleries, and I worked a little bit on a project for my workshops) since the weather was terrible (very rainy, and stormy).
Yesterday, on Monday, the kids and I went to Didier's mom then together we went to a Japanese restaurant, then we visited Didier's grandma who fell down a few weeks ago and had to get a surgery (she is 95 years old)- she is now in a revalidation center.
I haven't done so many pictures since we arrived, but these are a few of the ones I took. I still have a few pictures to share about our end of vacation in the Virgin Islands.

the kids played all day long, even if they were exhausted (we haven't slept at all on the night before in the plane... too excited)!
The next few days we fought with lices and nits that we just caught while back home... Didier started at work the second day, and I was busy with lices treatments, laundry from our vacation and all the stuffs because of the lices, then we got our shipment the 3d day, Didier was leaving on that day to go to Portugal...

but I was more suprised when I saw her big sister... who is now taller than me!

and our life turns back as it used to be now
Now, this last year looks it was just a dream... so wierd!!!
But we keep in touch with our friends we met in DC and we have all good memories of great moments together! I already miss them really much. But I'm pretty sure we will see again each other! The link is very strong!
This year was such an amazing experience and I feel it has transformed us in a way.
We come back again with other eyes on the world, but also on our country.
We are normally now in Belgium for minimum 5 years... we haven't lived so long in the same place... another experience is starting for us now: a life with more stability, our home is gonna be our permanent home for these 5 next years... with moments our family is gonna share in it, a place we will have our roots in it... so let's start and enjoy!
